PLANTS - PEPPER: SWEET CHOCOLATE

Sweet Chocolate Pepper -- (aka Choco) Early bell pepper bred by Elwyn Meader and introduced by the University of New Hampshire Agricultural Experiment Station in 1965. Ripens from green to chocolate on the outside and brick red inside. Thick sweet flesh. Great for gardeners in short season areas.

Medium-sized, elongated, thick-walled fruit bear the color of chocolate as they ripen; they acquire a scarlet hue when fully ripe. Fruit are abundant on plants that are medium-tall in height. Flavor is sweet and texture is crunchy but, alas, they do not taste like chocolate. An excellent slicing pepper for salads, where its unique color creates plenty of interest. Excellent for frying as well.

PRO TIP: WHEN PLANTING IN CONTAINER OR RAISED BED ADD 1 TBSP OF EPSOM SALT AND ORGANIC FERTILIZER INTO THE SOIL.
